Summary

The bill requires a parolee who is arrested for allegedly
committing a crime of violence while on parole to be detained at a state
correctional facility while awaiting a parole revocation hearing. The bill
requires the department of corrections to reimburse a county or city and
county for one-half the cost of transporting the parolee from the county
or city and county to a state correctional facility.
Under existing law, a community parole officer who is informed
by a law enforcement agency that a parolee has been arrested for a
criminal offense is required to request that a parole revocation proceeding
be deferred pending a disposition of the criminal charge. The bill repeals
this requirement and instead permits the community parole officer to
request that the parole revocation proceeding be deferred.
